Jeremie Frimpong finally looks set to play for Liverpool over a decade on from having to turn down joining the club, with his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen soon to be finalised.
Following confirmation of Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure at the end of his current contract, Liverpool have wasted no time in identifying his replacement. The Netherlands international has enjoyed another fruitful season at Leverkusen with 17 goal contributions from right-back.
Though the summer window is yet to open, Arne Slot's side have already agreed to sign him by activating the £30million release clause in his contract. He will undergo a Liverpool medical next week upon flying into England.

The imminent arrival of Frimpong is set to take place following news of Conor Bradley signing a new contract at Anfield. The Northern Irishmen has deputised on several occasions for Alexander-Arnold this season and was therefore expected to be first-choice.
However, Frimpong joining could see him remain as the back-up option and it is plasuible that in an alternative timeline, the 24-year-would have played alongside both Alexander-Arnold and Bradley in the club's academy as he has already explained why he had to turn down joining Liverpool for Manchester City.
Reminiscing about a football tournament when he was younger, Frimpong revealed to Rising Ballers: "I scored a hat-trick in the final and I won player of the tournament. There were scouts there. Liverpool, Bolton, Man City and a lot more.
"I chose Liverpool first and I was gonna sign for them but back then driving wasn't a thing for my family and it was far. Man City was local so I tried there next and it made more sense as it was 15 minutes on a bus."
Despite spending a number of years at City, he did not make a senior appearance and subsequently moved to Celtic in 2019 before then joining Leverkusen two years later.
He will become Liverpool's first summer signing and second under Slot following on from the arrival of Federico Chiesa. Strengthening in attack is also another aim with contact made Frimpong's teammate Florian Wirtz. Manchester City are also interested in signing the German international.
