Marcus Rashford 'changes mind on Man Utd transfer' as Aston Villa dealt blow

Marcus Rashford has reportedly changed his mind on the conditions he would accept to leave Manchester United this summer. The forward, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, remains tied down until 2028 but appears to have no future at Old Trafford. He has shown glimpses of brilliance during his time at Villa Park, chipping in with four goals and five assists.

Villa have the option to land Rashford permanently at the end of his loan spell, but are yet to begin negotiations. Several other clubs in Europe have also been linked with the 27-year-old, who remains tied down to the Red Devils until 2028. Any move will largely come down to finances with United thought to be demanding £40million in exchange for his signature.

Rashford's wage demands could also prove to be a sticking point, given that he is currently earning around £315,000 per week. It was recently claimed that he was unwilling to consider a pay cut, but it seems the situation might have changed.

His preferred destination would be Barcelona and he is prepared to slash his salary demands in order to join the Catalan giants, according to Sport. It is said that Rashford would be willing to make significant sacrifices to ensure the move goes ahead.

He is thought to view Barcelona as the ideal destination to revive his career and would not consider lowering his demands for any other suitor. It suggests a permanent move to Villa Park may be out of the question as far as Rashford is concerned.

Barcelona were linked with a loan deal for Rashford back in January, with the player actively proposing a move to the Nou Camp. Unfortunately for him, they decided to prioritise contract extensions within their squad rather than new additions.

Rashford is said to be determined to join a Champions League club and Barcelona have already qualified for next season's tournament. They reached the semi-finals of this year's competition, where they were narrowly beaten by Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Rashford has already played his final game for Villa. He is stepping up his recovery from a hamstring injury but will be unable to return before the end of the season, even if he is passed fit.

He was eligible to play in Friday's victory over Tottenham but was not ready to be named in the matchday squad. Villa will face United on the final weekend of the campaign and Rashford cannot be involved against his parent club.
