Over the past few days, Manchester City have been linked with a move for Juventus’ Nicolo Savona.
There’s been talk of the Bianconeri potentially being open to a sale and also speculation suggesting personal terms have been agreed between the defender and Pep Guardiola’s side.
All of that seems far from certain and Manchester City could now miss out on Savona.
Tuttomercatoweb’s Niccolo Ceccarini has reported that while the Old Lady have sealed new contracts for Weston McKennie and Federico Gatti, they are also close to finding an agreement to extend Savona’s deal until the summer of 2030.
The 22-year-old’s current contract runs out in the summer of 2029 and if he gets a hefty pay rise it may be more difficult for Manchester City to convince him.
So far this season, the versatile right-back has played 36 times in all competitions for Juventus. After doing well under Thiago Motta, he’s also started regularly under Igor Tudor.
Considering his ability to invert into midfield and how he can also play across the backline, it is easy to see why Guardiola likes Savona, but Manchester City may now have to focus on other options.
