Earlier this week, it was reported Napoli have made contact with Liverpool for Darwin Nunez.
The indication was that the Italian giants see the Uruguayan striker as a back-up for Jonathan David and the situation now seems to be evolving rather quickly.
Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo reports things look positive for Napoli on the Nunez front. One reason for that is because a move for David is proving to be a bit more expensive than expected.
The more important reason is that it’s stated Nunez has decided to leave Liverpool in the summer, and Partenopei sporting director Giovanni Manna has made ‘more than one contact’ with the 25-year-old’s agents.
The Uruguay international is said to be intrigued by Napoli’s approach and their project but for now, proposals from Saudi Arabia seem more tempting.
He is yet to make a final decision about his future and will issue a response to the Italian giants in the next few days.
Nunez has had a frustrating season at Liverpool, scoring only five times in the Premier League, and has also come under criticism for his at times erratic approach in the final third.
