Manchester United and Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo has received a ‘major’ and ‘tempting’ transfer offer to leave Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

Ronaldo, an all-time great of the sport, joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023 after leaving Old Trafford for the second time in his career.

The 40-year-old has continued to be prolific in front of goal in the admittedly inferior Saudi top-flight, scoring 97 goals in 109 games for Al-Nassr.

Despite Ronaldo’s contributions, Al-Nassr have enjoyed a disappointing season, failing to win any trophies and failing to qualify for the Asian Champions League.

Ronaldo has cut an increasingly frustrated figure in recent weeks and reportedly stormed away out of the stadium after the club’s recent defeat to Al-Ittihad.

Amid his frustrating spell at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has received an ‘important’ and ‘major’ proposal from a Brazilian club, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The club is not specified but Marca say a transfer would give Ronaldo the opportunity to play in this summer’s Club World Cup.

The four Brazilian clubs involved in the Club World Cup are Palmeiras, Fluminense, Flamengo and Botafogo. The tournament will be held between June 14 and July 13 in the United States.

Ronaldo was close to signing a new contract at Al-Nassr earlier in the year but it is claimed the Portugal icon could now decide to leave following the ‘tempting’ offer from Brazil.

In the two decades before his move to Saudi, Ronaldo – the record Champions League goalscorer – established himself as one of the greatest footballers in history.

A dynamic and skilful winger during his first spell at Manchester United, Ronaldo won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or at Old Trafford.

Nine staggering seasons at Real Madrid followed in which Ronaldo scored a remarkable 450 goals in 438 games and lifted a further four Champions League trophies.

Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, scored more than 100 goals for his next club, Juventus, while helping the Italian giants win three Serie A titles.

Last week Ronaldo was named as the highest-paid athlete for the third year in a row.

Business magazine Forbes said Ronaldo, who has topped the list fives times during his career, has increased his estimated total earnings by $15m to $275m (approx £206m).

NBA stars Stephen Curry and LeBron James also featured in the top-ten, as did retired British boxer Tyson Fury and Ronaldo’s long-term rival Lionel Messi.
