Liverpool are assessing their options at centre-forward and journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed exclusively to GIVEMESPORT that Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike is high on their shortlist.
The Reds are preparing for the soon-expected departure of Darwin Nunez this summer, which means there is space for a new striker in Arne Slot's dressing room. The Uruguayan has failed to meet expectations following his club-record £85 million switch from Benfica in 2022, and Liverpool are set to try again for a long-term signing to spearhead the attack.
Liverpool Target Ekitike Amid Nunez Departure
The Frenchman is seen as an ideal alternative to Isak
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs noted that Liverpool were indeed on the lookout for a new striker, and already had a number of targets on their radar, including Ekitike, Newcastle star Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. He said:
"With Darwin Nunez expected to leave, a new striker is expected to come in. I still keep hearing Hugo Ekitike. And in addition to that, we know that Liverpool are one of the clubs that think Alexander Isak, if he genuinely is available, would be a perfect fit.
"In theory, he would be their top target, but again, if he's not genuinely available, they're not the kind of club to waste their time. And in addition to that, Benjamin Sesko has become high in Liverpool's thinking as well."

Isak would be a dream for many alongside Liverpool, as Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have been linked to the Swede as well. However, the Magpies are reluctant to part ways with their top scorer.
Liverpool could pursue Ekitike as an alternative instead - the 22-year-old, previously dubbed "one of the best strikers out there", has amassed 22 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances this term in what has been the most productive season of his career thus far.
There is a reported €80m (£67m) in his contract which a number of clubs in Europe are thought to be eyeing, including Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United.
