Caoimhin Kelleher wanted by seven Premier League clubs

Caoimhin Kelleher’s situation at Liverpool will be a fascinating one to watch develop this summer.

In desperate need of regular first team football as a club’s No.1 goalkeeper, the Northern Ireland international has consistently found himself behind Alisson Becker in the pecking order.

Deputising brilliantly in the Brazilian’s absence, this summer could prove to be when Kelleher moves on, bringing to and end a six year spell with the Liverpool first-team after being promoted from the academy.

Taking a look at Liverpool’s goalkeeping department, if Kelleher was to move on this summer, the Reds have already found their replacement.

Giorgi Mamardashvili was signed by Liverpool last summer for £29 milllion, but was sent back on loan to Valencia for the season but will now join up wit the team after the conclusion of the current campaign.

The arrival of Mamardashvili will provide cover for Alisson, whilst also opening up the door for Kelleher to leave and he is set to be a man in demand this summer.

Michael Hincks for the I Paper believes Caoimhin Kelleher would be a good fit for Aston Villa, with the Northern Ireland international currently valued at £40m.

Aston Villa won’t be alone if they are to pursue a deal for him this summer however, as a whole host of clubs have shown interest.

Chelsea and Newcastle United have been linked, as well as Manchester United, whilst Bournemouth are also said to be confident in their ability to lure Kelleher to the south coast.

West Ham and Leeds United have also added themselves to the mix, whilst Nottingham Forest saw their offer rejected last year by Liverpool as the club didn’t have adequate cover at the time to let him go – now they do.

Kelleher is itching to play as the number one at a club, speaking back in September of his desire to achieve this.

“I’ve made it clear in the last few years that I want to go and be a number one and play week in, week out.”

Liverpool’s second choice goalkeeper seems to be set on a summer exit, but if he was to leave, he won’t be short of potential suitors.

Kelleher would only consider a club if it is guaranteed that he gets that No.1 spot, and keeps it.
