Jamie Vardy brought 'tears to the eye' after perfect Leicester City sign off

Jamie Vardy signed off from 13 years at Leicester City in the only way he could - with a goal.

While the game itself with fellow relegated outfit Ipswich Town was a dead rubber, the final home game of what has been an otherwise disappointing campaign for City marked the end of the road for club legend Vardy, who opened the scoring in the first half of a welcome 2-0 win.

It meant Vardy had scored 200 goals in exactly 500 appearances for the Foxes before bidding farewell, when he was substituted late in the second half, a perfect statistical alignment and a goals to games ratio to envy.

Needless to say there were plenty of well wishes for Vardy from City fans, who showed plenty of emotion that curtain had fallen on the era of a superstar...

Riz: Have to say that goal and celebration bought a tear to my eye. It’s been a while since I’ve felt that raw emotion from anything connected to #LCFC. Had to be Vardy. Saving the rest of my tears for when he gets subbed in stoppage time.

Jack Rafferty: Also, I don’t care about his form earlier in the campaign, James Justin is player of the season for being the man to set Vardy up!

Andrew Webb: 200 for @vardy7. What a legend of our football club. Going out with a bang...in the only way he would do it

George: Class touch from the Leicester players giving Vardy a guard of honour as he's subbed off. You never see that. The Vardy Party is officially over

Dom: @vardy7, you're a legend. #vardy I want to say thanks for all that you have given to #LCFC over the years. You're going to be missed #vards, but know one thing, you may be gone but you'll never be forgotten #legend #Jamie #Vardy once a fox, always a fox! All the best

Daryl Woolley: Not the season we wanted but a fairytale ending for Jamie Vardy’s legendary 13 years at #LCFC

Leicester Fan TV: Thank you Jamie Vardy for the best 13 years of our history. Good Luck… wish you would stay for 1 more season!
