Crystal Palace co-owner Josh Harris on FA Cup win: ‘It’s a turning point’

BY ANDREW MCSTEEN

American businessman and Crystal Palace co-owner Josh Harris has praised fellow owner and chairman Steve Parish after the club won their first-ever FA Cup on Saturday at Wembley.

The Eagles saw off Manchester City 1-0 to take their first-ever honour.

“Crystal Palace Football Club are FA Cup champions, for the first time ever,” said Harris on Saturday in an online post.

“At Wembley Stadium, we took on Manchester City in a final that will go down in club history. Eberechi Eze had the winner and Dean Henderson delivered a heroic performance in goal, including a penalty save that kept us alive. It was a gritty and fearless full-team effort.”

Just under 10 years ago Harris, along with fellow investor David Blitzer – who was also at Wembley – completed a deal which saw the pair take a large stake in the SE25 club.

The Maryland native was quick to praise the efforts of the Forest Hill-born Parish and look to what the future may hold.

“Steve, your leadership and devotion to this club made today possible,” added Harris, who celebrated what he called a “milestone” with wife, Marjorie, at Wembley and son Thomas in Boston.

“A huge credit as well to manager Oliver Glasner, whose leadership and vision have brought new energy and belief to Selhurst Park.

“The fans showed up in full force, bringing the spirit that defines this community. This isn’t just a trophy – it’s a turning point. Next up – the Europa League. Let’s go! Up the Palace!”
