Ruud van Nistelrooy made one change from the previous game. He played Bouba Soumare and placed Oliver Skipp on the bench. The game in itself had little or no impact as both clubs are allready relegated.
From a Leicester point of view, there was so much more on the table. Jamie Vardy was saying goodbye. He was chasing his dream target of 200 goals in 500 games for Leicester.
The game started with little going on in front of the goals, Ipswich having a slight advantage. Then Jamie Vardy got his first chance to score. He got into his favourite spot in front of goal and chased down the ball. Unfortunately, his shot went wide and out.
Then Leicester pushed themselves up the field and managed to create more scoring chances. Kasey McAteer, Jordan Ayew, Wilfred Ndidi, Bilal El Khannouss took more and more controll, putting pressure on Ipswich.
Then it all happened, James Justin pushed forward and found Jamie Vardy with a smart pass. The GOAT made a smart run and clever shot. This made his final very special. The goal was there, and he had reached his tally of 200 scored for Leicester.
Leicester holds the lead and everything looked controlled as both the midfield and defence are getting into shape. Leicester kept their 1-0 lead until the break, coming out second half with a taste for more.
A special, special win 🌟

Leicester are on the front foot from start, as another goal is hunted. Kasey McAteer and Jordan Ayew are both aggressive trying to build up momentum. Then in the 69th minute, after a nice set up from Bilal El Khannouss, Ndidi is found. He passes it on to McAteer, who hammers the ball into the top front right corner with his well-placed shot. Leicester are 2-0 up.
From then and out Leicester makes a number of substitutions. Firstly, in the 69th minute, they give Jeremy Monga and Ricardo Pereira minutes, replacing Jordan Ayew and James Justin. Then in the 80th minute that special moment happens. Jamie Vardy leaves the field, being replaced by Patson Daka. His last and final game for Leicester is done. He has scored and accomplished a very special record, 200 goals in 500 games. It will stand forever. Jake Evans replaces Kasey McAteer at the same time. Skipp is also getting a few minutes on the field, replacing Ndidi.
Ipswich makes the most of the situation, also having made a number of changes. Jacub Stolarczyk is sloppy with a kick, and Ipswich picks it up. Luckily, the ball falls into the Polish goalkeeper’s hands again. A few minutes later, Ipswich scores. However, the goal is disallowed. It was flagged offside and also confirmed by a VAR check.
The game ends, Leicester are winning 2-0. A solid performance and an act of much positives. Still very emotional to see Jamie Vardy leaving the field, ending his days at Leicester. A great ceremony after the game helps in this situation. Nice to see fans being able to celebrate and give JV9 the best farewell possible.
Leicester will be up against Bournemouth in their last game of the season, playing away on the south coast. No Jamie Vardy for this one, possibly a rare starting opportunity for Patson Daka.
