Leeds United's summer transfer plans will be in full flow ahead of the window opening on Sunday, June 1, after securing promotion back to the Premier League.
The Whites went up as champions but know there's major investment needed into the playing squad if they want to beat the drop and do what no other promoted side has done in the last two seasons.
Daniel Farke will have a reported £100million to spend to bolster his ranks in their quest for survival, but there have been a number of soon-to-be free agents also linked with a move to Elland Road.
The Sun claims the Whites are keen on a move for Newcastle United's 33-year-old striker Callum Wilson, with his contract at St. James' Park set to expire in the coming months.
The former England international has been a potent goalscorer throughout his top-flight career, but injuries have also hampered his time at St. James' Park. This season, Wilson has failed to score in the Premier League in 17 appearances, having scored nine goals in 20 top-flight appearances.
In total, he's scored 47 goals in 111 Premier League outings, a solid return, but this season's return in front of goal should be a major concern for the Whites, coinciding with his injuries.
Wilson led the line for Newcastle in their penultimate game of the season against Arsenal, but didn't offer the Magpies anywhere near the threat they pose when Alexander Isak is up front. Despite creating two chances, he didn't have a single shot on target.
Of course, Leeds are some way off being able to sign players of Isak's quality and there's an argument to be had about Wilson being a stepping stone to the next level if they're able to secure survival next season.
Although Wilson would be a free agent, he's one of the highest earners at Newcastle and would likely have to take a wage cut to join the Whites, though that would still be a hefty price to pay for a player who has struggled with injuries.
There can be no denying that a fully fit Wilson is one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League, but those days look to be behind him. He'll be keen to prove a point, but surely there's better value to be found elsewhere this summer.
The Whites have fought so hard to return to the top flight, they can't afford any misses when it comes to summer signings.
Speaking last summer about bringing in the right players, Farke said: "A new signing has to tick all boxes with proper quality but on the same importance level, needs to be there with a top personality and mentality and it also must be an affordable deal where we are still in the driving seat, even if it’s a loan deal.
"For that, many boxes have to be ticked. Sometimes, when you can’t spend a fortune, you have to be bit more patient."
Leeds must once again stay patient and make sure they tick all the boxes.
