Report: Liverpool now eyeing "incredible" star after Huijsen snub, looking to beat PL rivals in …

Liverpool may look to sign Nathan Zeze from Nantes after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, according to Rousing The Kop.

Surrounded by skepticism coming into the season, which marked Arne Slot’s first campaign in the English top flight, Liverpool have stormed to their second Premier League title. Under the Dutchman, the Reds never looked likely to relinquish top spot and had won the silverware with four games to spare.

Despite the season not being over, the newly-crowned Premier League champions have already been active in the transfer market. In response to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s impending departure, Liverpool have tied Conor Bradley down to a new contract and are set to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as a replacement.

It would appear that the Reds are also keen on reinforcing their ranks in central defence. Dean Huijsen was a player much appreciated by Liverpool, but the centre-back has since agreed a contract with Real Madrid, who met his £50 million release clause. As such, Liverpool have seemingly turned their attentions elsewhere.

Nathan Zeze for Nantes

According to Rousing The Kop, Liverpool are considering making a bid for centre-back Nathan Zeze. Just 19 years of age, Zeze has enjoyed a breakout year with his hometown club, Nantes, who avoided the bottom three by just three points in Ligue 1. Football scout Jacek Kulig has said that Zeze has an "incredible amount of talent" in the past.

Zeze’s form and evident potential have put several clubs in Europe, including Liverpool, on alert. As per Rousing the Kop, Zeze is also a target of Bournemouth, who would sign the Frenchman as a replacement to the outgoing Huijsen. While the Cherries have enjoyed a stellar season under the management of Andoni Iraola, Liverpool may prove a more attractive proposition.

Not only would Zeze be joining the defending champions, but would be under the tutelage of Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool, one of his generation’s greatest defenders. First-team minutes may be easier to come by, at least immediately, at Bournemouth, but the allure of Liverpool, along with Champions League football, could well be hard to turn down.
