The Champions travel south for their last away match of the season, meeting the Seagulls for another guard of honor and probably another drunken match. After seeing the highlights from their celebrations earlier in the week, nothing is really off the table, considering they only returned to training Thursday? Friday? Who knows anymore. Really, we are only marching towards the trophy lift, so while a loss would suck, it wouldn’t change the ultimate result. We’ll still be champions.
Brighton, to their credit, sit firmly in 9th place on the table, and a win for them would at least put them into 8th and maybe into the UEFA Conference League, depending on other results. There’s literally a chance that half of the Premier League could be in Europe next season, which is just wild to consider, looking at the rest of the table.
PredictedLiverpool Lineup (4-2-3-1)
Alisson; Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz
I mean really who do we expect to be focused on this match? How much rotation do we actually think that Arne is going to make? Even starting newly extended Conor Bradley in the right back position over... you know... is not that much of a surprise. The big surprise will probably be if we see Joe Gomez on the bench, and more likely to come on than, well. You know. We don’t exactly want a repeat of last weekend, but the traveling fans might be nicer. Maybe.
What the Managers Had to Say
Arne Slot: “Did you see me this week on social media?! No, no, even if you are celebrating over there, that doesn’t mean that the whole day you don’t think about something else. A larger part now is already [on next season]. Indeed, my thoughts are into next season [more] than it would have been if this game of Monday and next week against Palace would have been decisive for us to either finish top five or win the league or whatever we had to do. But now it’s clear what we’ve done, so I think it’s a normal situation that my thoughts if I’m on the couch tonight or another moment are more into next season than they would have been if it was still very important.”
Fabian Hurzeler: “Our responsibility is to be ready on Monday to be the best-prepared team we can be, to play a high-intensity game, to be ready to compete with a lot of individual quality. That’s our responsibility.”
