Liverpool are on the verge of completing the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong ahead of the Premier League season's finale
Incoming Liverpool full-back Jeremie Frimpong
Incoming Liverpool full-back Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly not the only defensive wide player that the Reds want to sign this summer. Despite the transfer window not opening until next month, the Reds have moved quickly to secure their first signing of the window.
Earlier this month, Trent Alexander-Arnold announced he would be departing the club at the end of his contract. As such, it was imperative for Arne Slot to sign a replacement for the right-back quickly.
Since Bayer Leverkusen's season ended, the project to bring Frimpong to Merseyside has intensified. The ECHO understands that the Dutchman is to finalise a move to Liverpool next week with a £30m deal agreed between the two clubs for his services.

The fee was agreed easily with Leverkusen due to the existance of a release clause in his agreement with the Bundesliga club. Journalist Fabrizio Romano added on Sunday that the first part of the medical process has been done and, importantly, the Reds still want to add a left-back this summer.
Current first choice Andy Robertson is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of his contract in 2026. The hot favourite to arrive on Merseyside to replace him is AFC Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez who has impressed in the Premier League this campaign.
A move for Kerkez could be difficult this summer considering they have been forced into selling Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid this week. Elsewhere, Liverpool have been handed a boost in their potential Rayan Cherki interest.
Rayan Cherki in action for Lyon
The Lyon forward, who is available for as little as £19m this summer, has become a target for several top clubs in Europe - particularly in the Premier League. Manchester United have been credited with interest as have Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United.
Bayern Munich and PSG have also been claimed to be in the race to sign Cherki but Foot Mercato suggested that the latter were not keen on exploring a deal. This stance has now been confirmed by Romano who adds that while plenty of conversations were had in Paris about the 21-year-old, he is not considered to be a priority.
