Nikola Jokic unsure about EuroBasket 2025 participation: 'A lot of beer first'

Nikola Jokic is undecided about playing in FIBA EuroBasket 2025 but hinted at discussions with coaches and teammates—while first enjoying "a lot of beer."

The Denver Nuggets were eliminated from the 2025 NBA Playoffs on Sunday. They lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 and the series 4–3.

With the season over, three-time MVP and Serbian national team star Nikola Jokic has yet to decide whether he will suit up for FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

"I think the Olympics made me even better," he said in the post-game conference. "Playing for your country with different rules and different players, it made me better.

"I need to decide. There is a EuroBasket," he continued. "I need to talk with the coaches and some of the main players, let's say like that. And we will see. But for now, for the next couple of days, there will be a lot of beer, probably."

Serbian Basketball Federation president Nebojsa Covic earlier told Sportal.rs that Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and other core players are expected to be available for EuroBasket, which runs from August 27 to September 14.

Serbia will compete in Group A, facing Estonia, Portugal, Latvia, the Czech Republic, and Turkiye in the group stage, hosted in Riga.

Jokic led Serbia to a bronze medal at last summer's Paris Olympics.
