Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben has sent a message to supporters.
In their final away match of the 2024-25 campaign, Declan Rice’s second-half strike inflicted a narrow loss on the Magpies, whose bid to secure Champions League qualification goes down to the final day.
Newcastle supporters have regularly travelled in thousands and clocked up an impressive number of miles following their team, witnessing eight wins, four draws and seven losses in the Premier League.
Jamie Reuben sends message to Newcastle United fans
In an away season that started at AFC Bournemouth and ended with a trip to the capital, Reuben was keen to express his gratitude to all those who travelled up and down the country.
The Newcastle co-owner wrote on X: “Wasn’t the result we wanted- we deserved more from that game but I want to personally thank all the @NUFC fans who travelled today and those who have attended our away fixtures this season, often travelling very long and difficult (today) journeys to support our team. Thank you for your support. Jamie”.
Jamie Reuben teases Newcastle United gesture versus Everton
Before Newcastle’s recent 2-0 win over Chelsea at St James’ Park, supporters were offered a free drink as a thank you and an effort to help the atmosphere ahead of big game.
Newcastle CEO Darren Eales explained: “We greatly appreciate the lengths that fans have gone to this season, travelling to every corner of the country to back the club, so we’re pleased to offer a token of appreciation for their loyalty and support this weekend.
“Alongside toasting the incredible support they have already shown, the offer of a free drink aims to ensure that everyone is in position for the early kick-off on Sunday, bringing that iconic St. James’ Park atmosphere from the warm-ups to the final whistle.”
And Reuben has teased a similar gesture against Everton. When one prominent NUFC fan account wrote: “Could you make it 2 Free Drinks on Sunday? Not fancy joining us in the Gallowgate? “ Reuben replied: “that’s an interesting idea“.
What Newcastle United must do against Everton to secure Champions League qualification
Anything less than a win against Everton will leave Newcastle depending on results elsewhere.
Howe’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table but only on goal difference after Aston Villa and Chelsea moved level on points (66) following wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, respectively, on Friday.

Manchester City can move ahead of Newcastle if they beat AFC Bournemouth in their game in hand on Tuesday before they face Fulham on the final day. Aston Villa are away to Man United while Nottingham Forest and Chelsea go head-to-head at the City Ground.
Only one point separates Newcastle and seventh-place Forest.
“I think the prize is so big that everyone's fighting as much as they can for it,” Howe said. “We've never got ahead of ourselves. We've never felt that we were there or the job was done. I know the players feel the same way, so we've been working incredibly hard to try and get the job done.
“Now it's going to go to the end, to the last game, and who knows what twists and turns are there for everybody. All we can do is our best and we gave our best today. That's why there's no criticism of the players. They've given so much this year and now we need one more big effort in this last match.”
