Ex-Hull City star's future transfer plans 'revealed' ahead of £30m summer move

Former Hull City star Liam Delap looks like being on the move this summer after just one season at Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Ex-City man Delap, who impressed on loan at the MKM Stadium last season when he joined the club from Manchester City, was one of Ipswich's big-money signings after their promotion to the top flight 12 months ago when they paid £20m to bring him to Suffolk. City had tried to bring him back to the club, but never stood a chance once top-flight interest became apparent.

A year on, Town are heading back to the Championship to join the Tigers in the second tier, and Delap looks like leaving the Portman Road outfit with a host of clubs keen to sign the powerful forward early in the summer window.

Premier League strugglers Manchester United are leading the race to sign Delap, according to Sky Sports, after an inaugural campaign at the top level which has seen him score 12 times in 35 league games. Ipswich have only scored 35 in total and have already been relegated along with Leicester City and Southampton.

Delap has a £30m relegation release clause in his contract which has alerted a flurry of Premier League clubs including United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, but Sky suggest the 22-year-old would be keen on a move to Old Trafford.

Despite sitting just two places above Town in the table, United could yet be playing in the Champions League next season. The Red Devils face fellow Premier League flops Tottenham in the Europa League final next Wednesday in Bilbao, with the winner claiming a spot in the iconic European club competition.
