Manchester United legend Paul Scholes claims that his former club are correct not to organise a parade for winning the Europa League.
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson stated earlier this week that the Red Devils were showing a “bit of arrogance” for not planning any sort of celebration with the fans if they do beat Tottenham on Wednesday night. However, writing in his column for TNT Sports, Scholes responded by saying:
“There’s no way they should have a parade for winning the Europa League, absolutely no chance. I think it would be slightly embarrassing. I think the key is the prize of Champions League football next season with a better budget and [chance of] attracting players.”

“Of course, it would be brilliant to win the trophy – winning any trophy is great – but when it’s Manchester United and the Europa League, the idea of a parade is just a no-no.”
Man United’s league position doesn’t help matters
Ruben Amorim’s side have had a terrible season domestically. The club are hovering just above the relegation zone and will end the campaign with one of the lowest points totals in the club’s history.
In that context, you can see why the Red Devils would be hesitant about putting on a parade. The Europa League is not exactly a consolation prize but winning the trophy does paper over the cracks of what has been a very difficult season.
Man United V Tottenham Team News
Amorim has already confirmed that Matthijs de Ligt (knee) and Leny Yoro (muscular) are doubts heading into the clash against Spurs in Spain.
Jonny Evans is also not expected to feature, having not played so far this calendar year due to a back problem. Lisandro Martinez (ACL) and Joshua Zirkzee (hamstring) have already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign but Diogo Dalot (calf) and Toby Collyer (leg) are believed to be winning their race to be fit for the final.
Tottenham, meanwhile, will be without six players, including James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski (both knee), Lucas Bergvall (ankle), Timo Werner (hamstring), Radu Dragusin (knee) and Dane Scarlett (groin).
