Liverpool are intensifying their efforts to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez, with talks between the clubs progressing positively as the Reds look to reshape their defensive flanks ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old Hungarian international has been identified as Liverpool’s primary left-back target following the imminent arrival of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, who is set to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right side of defence.
With Andy Robertson now 31, Liverpool have made strengthening the left side of their defence a top priority.
Although the Scottish international is still highly regarded at Anfield, questions have arisen over his capacity to consistently deliver the high-quality performances required by Arne Slot.
Meanwhile, backup option Kostas Tsimikas, who is approaching 30, is also not viewed as a viable long-term successor to Robertson.
David Ornstein has already reported that one of Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas will have to leave this summer to make space for the Cherries defender.
With Bournemouth setting Milos Kerkez’s price tag at approximately £45–50 million, his recent decision to be represented by Fali Ramadani – who facilitated Federico Chiesa’s transfer to Liverpool in 2024-could help streamline negotiations for a possible move to Anfield.
Now Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool have already now contact Bournemouth for the defender, with personal terms now also progressing.
Writing on X, the Italian said:
“Understand Liverpool have contacted Bournemouth for Milos Kerkez deal with talks now advancing!”
“Liverpool are also completing the agreement on personal terms with Kerkez, keen on the move.”
“Negotiations underway between clubs on transfer fee.”
