Leeds United and Brighton ‘very interested’ in 27 G/A star – Player receptive to approaches

Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion are in the picture to sign Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s Promise David in the summer window.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, writing in his column for Sky Sport CH, says Leeds and Brighton are ‘very interested’ in the 23-year-old.

The Canada-born striker had spells in Malta and Estonia before joining the Jupiler Pro League cub in July of last year.

David managed 22 goals and five assists from 40 games in his debut season, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Tavolieri names Lille, Leeds and Brighton as his interested parties.

The Ligue 1 club will see Jonathan David leave as a free agent and identify his compatriot as a target. They have set a €10m budget to sign a new striker but the Belgian club are requesting €20m for David.

Tavolieri claims the frontman has informed Union Saint-Gilloise that he’s willing to listen to offers in the upcoming window. He’s open to approaches from England, where Leeds and Brighton are keen. The Seagulls could proceed if João Pedro were to leave The Amex.

Union Saint-Gilloise sporting director Chris O’Loughlin is trying to extend David’s contract and include a release clause that’ll come into effect in 2026. The player is considering the renewal offer but is also willing to listen to other proposals.

David’s contract expires in 2027 and Transfermarkt values him at €6m. Taking this into account, the €20m fee requested by his club is certainly high for a player who doesn’t have experience of playing at the highest level.

This claim hasn’t been concretely backed up in the UK or Belgium so far. It’s quite possible Leeds and Brighton are being used to help David secure an improved deal. Therefore, we advise you to take this report with a pinch of salt.
