Manchester City winger Jack Grealish has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer window
Tottenham Hotspur have done a fine job in the recent transfer windows.
It is clear to see that Spurs have changed their recruitment strategy and are focusing on adding young talents to their squad at N17. They are planning to build a team for the future and have certainly taken the right steps in the last few years.
Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are two glaring examples of the North London club’s recent success in the transfer market, battling top teams to get their signatures. Along with young talents, Tottenham also need to bring in a few experienced players to maintain the balance of the squad. With club captain Son Heung-min past his prime, Richarlison linked with a move back to Everton and Timo Werner heading for an exit, the Lilywhites need to find players who can potentially fill their void in the roster next season.
As speculation about a major summer overhaul grows, Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has emerged as a target for Spurs. The England international has endured another tough season with Manchester City, struggling with fitness and form. He has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium, starting only seven of 19 Premier League games thus far this term.
Jack Grealish was an unused substitute in Man City’s 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, as Pep Guardiola has gone trophyless in his City career for the first time since his debut season in England. With Guardiola handing young talent Claudio Echeverri his City debut while looking for an equaliser in the FA Cup final ahead of bringing on Grealish as a substitute, it speaks volumes about his future at the Mancunian club.
So, there is a strong possibility of the 29-year-old moving from City at the end of the season, and ex-Premier League defender Darren Ambrose feels Grealish will fit in well at Tottenham. He has backed Spurs to sign the City star if they can win the Europa League trophy this season.
“Look, I think he definitely has some admirers, he’ll definitely fit in a lot of teams. Aston Villa, he would definitely fit in,” Darren Ambrose told Stadium Astro after City’s 1-0 defeat to Palace in the FA Cup final.
“At Spurs he would fit in, but that depends on what happens on Wednesday, he’s not going to go with no European football. He needs a manager who can release the shackles and let him do what he can do.”

Grealish remains under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, earning a wage packet of around £300,000. A crucial player in City’s treble success a couple of years ago, the Englishman is no longer ‘untouchable’ at the club and will be allowed to leave this summer around £38-43 million.
While the Birmingham-born talent is an experienced player with winning pedigree, his form and fitness levels keep on deteriorating. He has struggled to maintain his fitness levels, and that coupled with his hugely inconsistent performances and high competition within the attacking ranks, has seen Grealish fallen out of favour under Guardiola.

For a player who is on a decline and will turn 30 midway through the 2025/26 season, it barely makes sense for Tottenham to invest big (in terms of price and wages) on Grealish. That said, Daniel Levy should avoid such a transfer in a summer that is extremely crucial in rebuilding the squad at N17.
