Wolves in mix to sign player for €12m or less – Contract situation very helpful

Monday’s edition of Argentine newspaper Ole has an article on Álvaro Montoro and a potential move to Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

The 18-year-old has come through the youth system at Vélez Sarsfield and made it to their first team. His three goals as an attacking midfielder in around 120 Copa Libertadores minutes is what will have grabbed most of the attention and encouraged interest from Europe.

Ole’s headline states ‘the boy is going to Europe’, and him leaving his club and South America this summer is seen as a likely prospect. Montoro is ‘close to leaving’ and now it’s just a matter of where he will end up, with Wolves very much in the picture.

Vélez Sarsfield have tried to secure the youngster to a new contract with a higher clause than the €12m he currently has. They’ve been unsuccessful and that further underlines a move being on the cards, especially given his contract expires in December.

Ole name Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, Benfica and Wolves as the possible destinations at this stage. The newspaper also states it’s not known whether Montoro will move for his €12m clause or a lower figure, however, the assumption would be Vélez Sarsfield will be looking for that €12m.
