Niclas Fullkrug faces an uncertain future at West Ham United already after a year to forget.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has struggled to maintain his fitness, making just 17 Premier League appearances in his maiden season in England.
The German striker also caused controversy when he spoke out about Graham Potter’s tactics after the 1-1 draw with Southampton (19 April), and it would not be a surprise to see him moved on in the summer.

West* Ham *have Fullkrug replacement in Castellanos
Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos is a player who has been on the Hammers’ radar before, and they seem set to reignite their interest.
Caught Offside (19 May) reports that the Lazio forward is Potter’s number one target as a potential Fullkrug replacement, and David Sullivan is preparing a “significant budget” to secure a quality striker.

It states that the E20 outfit are the closest to making offer, with a fee of £25-30million expected to seal a deal for the 26-year-old who has 10 Serie A goals this season and is also attracting interest from Everton and Wolves.

Potter desperately needs goals at West Ham
Potter’s start to life in East London has been overwhelming to say the least, he has failed to turn around the Hammers’ fortunes after replacing Lopetegui.
He will get the chance to rectify that when the market reopens, and he must grasp it with both hands; otherwise, he may find himself looking for a new job.

Castellanos’ stats this season
Castellanos would fit the English game, with excellent physical and technical abilities and the Argentine can help Potter turn things around, given the fact that he has 22 contributions for the Rome-based outfit.
Given that former manager David Moyes is in charge at Goodison Park, it would also be a huge boost to beat Everton to a target, as some sections of the fanbase still have strong feelings towards him.
It would be a great start to their business if the Irons could bring the former New York City FC star to Rush Green ahead of their rivals, especially the 62-year-old, who left at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign, given the misery that has followed.
