Former Manchester United star Nemanja Matic faces being banned as a result of his recent protest staged during Lyon’s home win against Angers.
The 36-year-old midfielder has had a remarkable career, playing for top teams including Chelsea, Manchester United, Benfica, AS Roma, and now Olympique Lyon.
Matic’s rise to fame primarily came with his two spells at Chelsea, firstly from 2009 to 2011, moving for a three-year stint at Benfica.
During this time, Matic lit up the Portuguese league, securing the domestic treble in 2014, grabbing him a move back to Stamford Bridge.
After three more years with Chelsea, Matic made a £38 million move to Old Trafford where he remained for five years.
Since then, the midfielder has spent season long stints with AS Roma, Stade Rennais and now Lyon.
However, Matic’s recent protest may have landed the star in real hot water.

Metro has reported that Matic could now face a ban for his recent actions when he took to the field against Angers.
Joining the match off the bench in the second half, Matic took to the field having taped over one of the emblems on his kit with white tape.
The emblem in question was a rainbow-coloured logo on the right sleeve worn by all French clubs on Saturday, to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
Not shying away from his actions, Matic posted several pictures from the game on his social media, clearly showing the taped up logo.
Whilst the repercussions of his protest are yet to be confirmed, last year Monaco’s Mohamed Camara did a similar thing, being handed a four-match ban.
With the French league now having come to an end for the season, it’s expected that any ban would be starting when the league starts up again later this year.
