Paul Pogba and current Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes are among those to send their support to Mason Greenwood following his emotional reflection on his first season at Marseille.

The winger moved to the French club in the summer of 2024 after coming to an agreement with United to leave Manchester permanently. In January 2022, amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour, Greenwood was suspended by the Reds.

Those charges were later dropped and Greenwood joined Getafe on deadline day in the summer of 2023. After his stint in Spain, the winger returned to United where, after meetings with the club, it was decided that the best course of action was to sell him permanently.

A move to Marseille was swiftly agreed with United including a significant sell-on clause for their academy product which could net United millions this summer. In his first campaign in Ligue 1, Greenwood finished the season as the league's joint top goalscorer and amid rumours that he is angling for a return to the Premier League, the forward appears settled in France.

"From day one, this club welcomed me like family," he wrote on Instagram. "Ending the season in second and qualifying for the Champions League is something we can all be proud of.

"Being joint top scorer in Ligue 1 is a proud moment for me personally, but the real highlight was playing in front of our incredible fans week in, week out. Your support means the world."

Pogba, Fernandes and Diogo Dalot were among the nearly 250,000 people to like the statement at the time of writing. Former United players Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Shola Shoretire also sent their messages of support to the forward in the comments section.

Greenwood has previously tried to reunite with Pogba in Marseille with the midfielder currently on the hunt for a new club after agreeing a mutual exit with Juventus at the turn of the year. However, a move to the French club has not been forthcoming and the World Cup winner remains a free agent heading into the summer transfer window.
