Man United legend Ronaldo receives 'tempting' offer - he could play in the Club World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo’s stint in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Nassr has not gone as expected – and according to reports, he has now received a ‘tempting’ offer from another club. The move could even see him feature in the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer.

A trailblazing figure of sorts, the Portuguese talisman left Manchester United for the second time in November 2022 – and at the turn of 2023, Al-Nassr swept in to pounce on the 219-cap Portugal international’s free agency status.

Ronaldo has won plenty of trophies, individual and collective, throughout his illustrious career – but Al-Nassr chiefs are uncertain about whether to extend his stay, especially given the eye-watering amount of money they are paying him.

Offers the chance to play in the Club World Cup

Uncertainty over whether Ronaldo, widely regarded as one of the best footballers to ever live, will remain in the Middle East beyond this summer has caused football aficionados to ponder the next steps in his career – especially with the prospect of netting 1,000 goals before he retires still set in his sights.

Madeira-born Ronaldo, 40, has reportedly been in talks over a potential two-year extension – but after a chastening run of form, those crunch talks have plateaued and whether he’ll stay put is unknown.

In 2024/25 alone, the former Manchester United and Juventus line-leader has plundered 33 goals and an additional four assists in 39 outings – but a lack of semblance in the Al-Nassr dressing room means that he may not add to his trophy cabinet.

Football has never had this many global superstars before.

As things stand, Al-Nassr have slipped to fourth in the Saudi Pro League and, by virtue of the fact that they exited the AFC Champions League at the semi-final stage, there is every chance that he and his teammates will end the season trophyless.

A return to Real Madrid, per reports, is off the cards amid something of a culture change in the Spanish capital given they will end the 2024/25 campaign without a trophy to their name – but Marca have claimed that Ronaldo has received a ‘significant offer’ from an unnamed Brazilian club.

Jose Feliz Diaz of Marca has described the proposal – which is set to be partly funded by outside investors given the vast size of the deal and what it would mean to Brazilian football and its future prospects – as an ‘off-market offer’ due to its importance.

Ronaldo, who has a dark cloud hanging over his future, is reportedly in a ‘dilemma’ as he considers the move to Brazil ‘tempting’ as it could offer a route into this summer’s Club World Cup, which is being held in the United States.

Although the club, as things stand, has remained anonymous, a total of four Brazilian clubs – Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo – are set to feature in the summer months.
