Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz has already spoken to Liverpool boss Arne Slot about a potential move to Anfield this summer, according to Mirror journalist Simon Mullock.
The Germany international has emerged as a midfield target for the Premier League winners in recent days and has yet to make a decision on his next career step.
Wirtz could follow both manager Xabi Alonso and teammate Jeremie Frimpong out of Leverkusen this offseason, with the latter now in advanced talks to become Liverpool’s first summer signing.
The Reds have identified the Dutch full-back as their first choice to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold and are expected to seal the move soon by triggering his £30m release clause.

According to Mullock, Leverkusen are demanding in excess of £100m for Wirtz this summer, which would make him Liverpool’s most expensive signing ever.
The Merseysiders broke their transfer record three years ago by spending £85m on Darwin Nunez, who is now set to leave to make room for a new number nine.
Wirtz, praised as a ‘superstar’, has been exceptional for Leverkusen over the past two seasons, helping lead them to their first-ever Bundesliga title in 2023/24.
The 22-year-old midfielder is believed to have no shortage of suitors across Europe, with Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid all among his admirers.
Liverpool are anticipating a busy second summer under Slot, with at least two defensive signings on the agenda.
In addition to a new full-back, the Reds are also exploring their centre-back options, having recently missed out on Bournemouth ace Dean Huijsen.
