Real Madrid superstar on Liverpool’s list of transfer targets

This summer promises to be an intriguing one at Anfield, as Premier League champions Liverpool prepare to defend their title.

The Reds have cruised to the top flight title this season, but have been dealt a blow in the past few weeks with Trent Alexander-Arnold announcing that he will depart the club when his contract expires this summer.

Arne Slot and those in charge of the club are therefore likely to want to bolster the squad ahead of next season, but it appears that the Merseyside club are also considering an audacious move for one of the world’s most talented attackers.

According to Ben Jacobs via GiveMeSport, Real Madrid star Rodrygo is among the list of possible targets that Liverpool have compiled as they search for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Egypt international Salah signed a new two-year contract with the Reds last month, ending months of speculation surrounding the player’s future.

Despite this, those in charge of the Reds are still working to identify a long-term heir to Salah and Real’s Rodrygo is on their radar.

Rodrygo, 24, joined Real Madrid from Brazilian side Santos in 2019 and has since played 267 times for the Spanish giants across all competitions, scoring 68 goals and providing 50 assists.

The Brazil international is under contract in the Spanish capital until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but Jacobs claims that Liverpool could attempt to lure him to England prior to that date.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will join the club this summer with a view to eventually replacing Alisson as the club’s first choice ‘keeper.

It is claimed that the Merseyside outfit could attempt to repeat that process by sourcing a long-term replacement for talisman Salah, who has registered a combined 357 goals and assists in 399 games for the club across all competitions.
