Emiliano Martinez could depart Aston Villa after the season amid growing interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The Argentine shot-stopper reportedly has no shortage of suitors following another impressive campaign under Unai Emery, and there is a ‘huge’ possibility he could leave Villa Park in the coming weeks.
Martinez is believed to have already received an approach from an unnamed Saudi club and is also considering offers from Europe, where he ideally wants to stay to continue playing at a high level ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper is likely to have played his final game at Villa Park on Friday, an entertaining 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed there is a ‘concrete’ possibility that Martinez will leave Aston Villa after the season, as the goalkeeper is keen on a new challenge outside the West Midlands:
“Emiliano Martinez was very emotional after Aston Villa - Tottenham. He was almost crying on the pitch, in tears with his family.
“Why? Because there is a huge, concrete possibility to see Emiliano Martinez leaving Aston Villa in the summer.
“He received an important approach from Saudi. Saudi clubs want Martinez. At the moment, he's also hearing proposals from Europe, so giving priority to European clubs.
“But Martinez could be one of the players leaving Aston Villa in the summer transfer window and trying a new chapter in his career.
“Again, interest from Saudi remains at the moment, the player is giving priority to Europe, also because of the World Cup in one year.
“But Martinez really, really knows that he could say goodbye very soon to Aston Villa.”
Martinez, praised as ‘world-class’, joined Villa from Arsenal in 2020 and has developed into one of the top goalkeepers in the world during his five-year stint at the club.
The 32-year-old has been Unai Emery’s first-choice between the posts since the Spanish manager arrived in 2022, making 51 appearances across all competitions this season.
Villa are anticipating a busy summer window regardless of Martinez’s future, as they have yet to make final decisions regarding Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio’s loan spells.
While Rashford’s future at Villa Park remains uncertain, Asensio is now more likely to stay than leave, with the club potentially eyeing a low-cost deal to make his move from Paris Saint-Germain permanent.
