Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s wife has said she is “proud every single day” of her husband as they bid farewell to Goodison Park. Calvert-Lewin came on for Everton in the 75th minute yesterday for Iliman Ndiaye.

Ndiaye scored the final goals for the men’s side at the famous stadium in a 2-0 win over Southampton. Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin’s contract with Everton expires at the end of this season.

He has struggled with injuries through the Blues' recent years of turmoil on and off the pitch. Despite that, he still played a significant role in the club’s escape from relegation.

As well as the diving header that secured safety against Crystal Palace under Frank Lampard three years ago, there was the crucial penalty he converted at Leicester City under Sean Dyche 12 months later.

Then, last season, he scored important goals against Newcastle United, Burnley and Liverpool to pull Everton clear of trouble. Calvert-Lewin’s wife, Sandra Calvert-Lewin, reflected on these achievements in a series of messages on Instagram yesterday.

Sandra, who is a model, shared a post to her story which showed that her husband had scored the third most goals for Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League.

Sandra said: “30 goals at Goodison. Top three ever. They might not shout about it - but we’re proud every single day.”

Calvert-Lewin posted an emotional tribute to the stadium on his Instagram page yesterday, with pictures of him celebrating after his goal against Crystal Palace and an old one of him in the dressing room after winning man of the match.

He said: “The first picture - by far my most emotional night at Goodison (Palace game), the second picture is just one from the archives and one of many.

“To be the last player to wear the number nine shirt at Goodison after so many greats before me is something that I’ll forever cherish, a pressure and a privilege. Memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Goodison Park.”

Sandra left a comment on the post which said: “You wore it with pride. You lived it with heart. Forever proud of you.”

She then posted a lengthier message on her Instagram story which praised her husband’s resilience. Sandra said: “I’ve seen the unseen moments - the recovery, the doubt, the strength it took to keep going.

“The world saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin the footballer. I see the man I love. And I’m endlessly proud of both.”

The couple had their first child together in August 2023. Then, in June of last year, the Everton striker revealed he had proposed to Sandra.

They married in March of this year in what appeared to be a low key ceremony at a registry office with only close friends and family members appearing in pictures shared on Instagram.

The couple’s faces were beaming with smiles as they tied the knot. In the accompanying caption, Sandra said: “Civil wedding day one.” She added a white love heart emoji.

Fans were brought to tears yesterday as they watched Everton men's first team play their last match at Goodison Park. Flares were lit and songs were sung as they marked the end of an era at The Grand Old Lady.

The occasion marks the conclusion of one chapter of football heritage with the men’s team set to move to the club’s new home at Bramley Moore-Dock for next season. Everton Women will play their home games at Goodison Park instead of Walton Hall Park.
