Lakers 2025 pick: LA projected to draft Villanova scoring ace

The Los Angeles Lakers are projected to select Villanova forward Eric Dixon, the NCAA leading scorer, in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers hold the No. 55 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and while it's deep in the second round, they still have a chance to find value.

In his latest mock draft following the Draft Combine, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projects the LA Lakers to select Villanova forward Eric Dixon with that pick.

Dixon led the nation in scoring during the 2024–25 NCAA season, averaging 23.3 points per game. He knocked down 94 three-pointers, shooting 40.7 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 2.9 makes per game.

The 24-year-old also set Villanova's all-time scoring record with 2,314 points, surpassing Kerry Kittles.

The Lakers' original pick, No. 22 overall, is headed to the Atlanta Hawks via the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the Dejounte Murray trade. That selection also represents the final draft asset LA owed from the 2019 Anthony Davis trade.

The Lakers used the same No. 55 pick last summer to select Bronny James.

Looking ahead, Dixon could offer value as a floor-spacing forward — something the Lakers could use alongside creators like LeBron James or Luka Doncic.
