Mason Mount is hoping Europa League glory can help relaunch his stalled Manchester United career. England star Mount has endured a difficult time since joining United from Chelsea in a £55million deal in 2023.
The attacking midfielder has spent much of the last two seasons sidelined with serious injuries and admitted it has been tough to effectively see two years of his career wiped out.
Mount also suffered the heartbreak of being part of the England squad which lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy at Wembley and admitted he still carries the pain of that defeat.
But Mount said beating Tottenham in Wednesday's all-or-nothing Europa League final in Bilbao would go some way towards making up for those setbacks and disappointments.

"The football side of it and the injuries is something that obviously I didn’t see coming,” said Mount, who came off the bench to score twice late on in United's 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, which clinched their place in the final.
"That's not been easy. I've had many days sitting on the treatment bed where I want to be training. I've been in the stand watching games, when I want to be playing. But those were the circumstances.
"And I think you do remember that the losses are hard. I've had quite a few at Wembley and they stick with you for a long time.
"I don’t know how many of the lads have had too much experience of that, but I can tell you I've had quite a few losses and I don’t want that feeling again. We will do everything we can to win that game. You really appreciate it more."

"When you do win, you realise that feeling and you always want that feeling when you're playing in finals.
Mount admitted United owe their loyal fans a trophy, having put them through the club's worst season of the Premier League era and the most calamitous since relegation in 1973-74.
"As a group, we always try to block out the noise,” said Mount. “But we know the situation we're in.
"We know the league isn't good enough and we've not been good enough in that, but the Europa League is something that we can look forward to as a final. We want to win the final. It's a trophy and it's Champions League football next season.
"We'll do everything in our power to win that game. But we won't forget about what we have done in the league and our league form.

"That's something we need to work on for next season. We know we need to work on that. This is a final and if we can win it, it can be a positive end to a tough season.
"Every single game we play at home they're there. The fans are supporting us, they're loud.
"We need to give something back. Winning the final might not solve everything, but it will give them something to cheer about and it's a trophy. Hopefully we can do that and be proud of it."
