Wolves plan to turn their attentions towards Liverpool star Harvey Elliott as they prepare for Matheus Cunha to leave the club in the coming weeks.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Vitor Pereira’s side have joined the race for the 22-year-old.

While Elliott is not viewed as a replacement for Cunha, the money raised from his potential sale to Man United could be used to land the England Under-21 international.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 4 April that Liverpool will demand £50million for Elliott as speculation about his future continues.

Wolves’ interest comes as the midfielder has fallen out of favour under Arne Slot despite both sides speaking publicly about his role in the squad.

Football Insider revealed in March that Elliott has been “disappointed” at his lack of playing time under the boss – although he will not push for a move away.

Wolves join race to sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott

Brown told Football Insider last month that Elliott is attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides who are keeping tabs on his situation at Liverpool.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that Wolves are among those clubs and could be prepared to make a move.

“*Harvey Elliott is one on the radar at Wolves,*” he told Football Insider.

“It’s a deal they can get done when Cunha leaves because of the money they’ll get from that deal.

“It looks like that move to Man United is going to happen.

“I don’t think he’s a replacement for Cunha by any means, but he’s the sort of player they’ve been looking at to improve their squad overall.

“Elliott is the sort of player who could play for pretty much anybody in the Premier League.

“Liverpool, for whatever reason, don’t think he’s quite good enough for them.

“Every time he comes into the team, he does well, but he’s not been able to become a regular.

“So if he is allowed to leave, I think clubs will be queuing up to sign him and I expect Wolves will be one of those clubs.”

Milos Kerkez update emerges at Anfield

Amid speculation about players potentially leaving Anfield this summer, Liverpool are working hard to bring players in early in the transfer window.

Brown told Football Insider on 19 May that Liverpool will meet Milos Kerkez’s asking price of £45million this summer as they aim to bolster their defence.

Kerkez is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, and they will move quickly to get ahead of potential rivals for his signature.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement with Frimpong ahead of a £29.5million move from Bayer Leverkusen.
