**The future of Alexander Isak has been a favourite topic of journalists all season, with so many outlets adamant that Newcastle United's star striker would be looking for a way out of the club.**
Rumours of a move to Arsenal hit fever pitch towards the end of last year when Newcastle dropped down to 12th in the Premier League, with outlets claiming that Newcastle will miss out on Europe and that will make Isak want to move on,
Thankfully, Newcastle turned their season around, have already booked a place in Europe after lifting the Carabao Cup and are just one win away from upgrading their Europa Conference League place to a Champions League one, and that seemed to have silenced the media somewhat.
That, along with constant reassurances from the club that they will not be selling their big players, along with a mandate from Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan to resist all offers for their star player, has allowed Newcastle fans to relax on the topic.

Eddie Howe says he can't promise Newcastle won't sell Alexander Isak but that's not to say they will
Eddie Howe can't guarantee Alexander Isak will not be sold

Speaking to reporters (via [GOAL](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/alexander-isak-on-his-way-out-eddie-howe-admits-27-goal-striker-could-secure-big-money-transfer-away/blt6004000a488ae0cf#cs74e31567ed7298d1)), Eddie Howe was asked about Isak's future and whether he will stay, and here's what he said:
> "I never make those guarantees about any player and it’s not to do with Alex’s future but I’d be foolish to sit here and do anything like that. We want to keep our strongest players, I’ve said that ever since I’ve been here and sat in this seat.
>
> "We have to try and keep our best players and bring in more good players to make us even stronger because the ambition of the club and everyone connected with the club is long-term success and that’s the only way to get that."
Who can guarantee anything?

That statement has, of course, been spun into Eddie Howe saying Alexander Isak could leave this summer when that's not at all what he said.
GOAL ran the headline along with those quotes, saying "Alexander Isak on his way out?". They cleverly posed it as a question because they know full well that wasn't the point Eddie Howe was making.
Howe simply said he can't say 100% that he will stay. Which is the same as me saying "I can't promise a plane won't fall out of the sky and hit me on the head when I go outside" - You can't say for definite it won't happen, but you can be pretty confident, and that's the real take away from what he said.
Let's not get sucked in.
