Top Pitching Performance of the Week

Logan Henderson looks like he could be an unexpected keystone for the Brewers rotation. Entering his start against Cleveland, Milwaukee had lost five of six, and Henderson helped the team to a needed win with his impressive performance. He went five innings while allowing two runs, but he showed the qualities that could make him such a boon for the pitching staff: he allowed just four hits, he walked one batter, and he struck out seven. The Brewers’ starters don’t possess a great deal of strikeout stuff, so Henderson’s early flashes of dominance could be a good omen for the Brewers moving forward.

Top Hitting Performance of the Week

The scoreboard was a fickle friend for the Brewers this week as they were shut out in four of their games, but Rhys Hoskins continued his excellent season with a 1.037 OPS across 24 plate appearances. Not only has Rhys Hoskins been a source of RBIs, providing six this week, but his underlying profile has shown some important improvements from last year. One example is his reduced strikeout rate. After striking out 28.8% of the time last season, that number is down to 22.3%.

Injury Notes & Roster Moves

Last Wednesday was a busy day for Milwaukee as they optioned Bryan Hudson to Triple-A and placed Jose Quintana on the 15-day injured list. Quintana’s move is retroactive to May 11. To balance out these transactions, the Brewers recalled Tobias Myers and Logan Henderson.

DL Hall began a rehab assignment in Triple-A on Wednesday as well.

Third baseman Vinny Capra was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox.

Long-time major leaguer Eddie Rosario signed a minor league deal with the club.

The Brewers acquired reliever Rob Zastryzny from the New York Yankees for cash.

Myers was sent back down to Triple-A on Sunday. The Brewers selected the contract of pitcher Easton McGee in the corresponding move. He last pitched in the majors in 2023 with the Seattle Mariners.

The Brewers transferred pitcher Connor Thomas from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list as he deals with left elbow arthritis.

On Sunday, Brandon Woodruff simulated multiple innings in a bullpen session. He is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on May 21, but that date is still up in the air.

Aaron Civale has made two rehab outings and will pitch one more on May 20 before being brought back up to the major league club.

Tyler Black began a rehab assignment at rookie-level Arizona, but he is not expected to return until mid-summer.

Aaron Ashby, who is recovering from a right oblique strain, could return later this month in a long relief role for Milwaukee.
