Liverpool’s Premier League triumph has not stopped the newly-crowned champions from planning ahead.

We exclusively revealed that Jeremie Frimpong concluded his Liverpool medical on Sunday, with the final details being ratified before his official announcement next week.

Meanwhile, the surprise links with Florian Wirtz that emerged out of the blue last week have proven concrete – with the Anfield club definitely in the race for the German international.

Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the dream summer signing for Liverpool.

However, multiple factors suggest this blockbuster transfer may remain nothing more than a tantalizing fantasy for the Anfield faithful.

The interest is well-founded. Isak has been in scintillating form for Newcastle this season, netting 27 goals and providing six assists from 41 appearances.

His combination of pace, technical prowess, and clinical finishing has established him as one of the Premier League’s elite forwards, qualities that would seemingly make him a perfect fit for Slot’s attacking system that needs some other heavy hitters to take the scoring pressure off Mohamed Salah

It’s understood that Isak would be interested in a potential move to Anfield.

Despite this mutual interest, several significant barriers stand in the way of what would be a record-breaking transfer. Chief among them is Newcastle’s eye-watering valuation of their star striker.

The Magpies have reportedly placed a price tag of between £150-160 million on Isak, a figure that would make him one of the most expensive players in history.

This prohibitive valuation is no accident. Newcastle have deliberately set such an astronomical price to ward off potential suitors.

Beyond the financial hurdles, Newcastle’s ownership has made their position crystal clear.

The club’s chairman and Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan has explicitly told the club’s hierarchy to reject any bids for the striker this summer.

But Eddie Howe’s most recent comments after the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend may suggest the stance has softened.

Speaking to reporters on the Swedish striker, Howe has stated that he cannot make transfer guarantees around any player at Newcastle United:

“I never make those guarantees about any player and it’s not to do with Alex’s future but I’d be foolish to sit here and do anything like that.”

“We want to keep our strongest players, I’ve said that ever since I’ve been here and sat in this seat.”

“We have to try and keep our best players and bring in more good players to make us even stronger because the ambition of the club and everyone connected with the club is long-term success and that’s the only way to get that.”

The Swedish forward remains tied to Newcastle until 2028 with no release clause in his current agreement, giving the Magpies exceptional leverage in any negotiations.
