Manchester United are all set to lose one of their key players at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The Red Devils’ line-up for next season is expected to look very different to this year, with Ruben Amorim looking to make some key changes.

United need to bounce back from this season’s campaign, being the club’s worst Premier League performance on record.

As such, players like Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap are being targeted to reinforce the attack, whilst struggling stars like Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana could well find themselves leaving the club.

Alongside them is Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, who have been unable to extend their contracts, with the 30-year-old defender set to leave officially on 30th June, as reported by Manchester Evening News.

The veteran midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford over the last few years, however has still been vital under Amorim due to the extent of injuries United have faced.

Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out since February due to an ACL tear, with Ayden Heaven, Matthijs de Ligt, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro all also spending time in the treatment room.

As such, Lindelof has made 24 appearances this season, predominantly as part of Amorim’s back three in the second half of the season.

Despite his vital role in covering injuries, his future at Old Trafford has been in question for some time, especially with the recent signings in defence.

In an interesting twist of events, Lindelof could be called upon to start in United’s most important game this season, the Europa League final against Tottenham, in their bid to save European football for next season.

With Martinez still out and Yoro, de Ligt and Heaven still in question, Lindelof is one of the few remaining centre-backs to be able for selection by Amorim for the game.

Should the others return to fitness in time, it’s a no brainer that Lindelof would sit on the bench as a back up, however he could still pick up one final piece of silverware before departing the club.
