Manchester United are planning their attacking rebuild for the summer transfer window in a bid to improve their squad ahead of next season, however may have to rethink their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo.

United’s striker duo of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been struggling this season to provide consistency in front of goal, with Hojlund even experiencing a 21-game goal drought.

As such, Ruben Amorim is keen to bring in some proven attackers to remodel their front three, with a deal for Matheus Cunha set to be finalised in the coming days.

However, United may have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

Give Me Sport has reported that United may fail to sign attacking target Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, who was considered a strong partner to Cunha in attacking.

Ben Jacobs has commented that the main sticking point to United signing the 25-year-old would be his newly revealed price tag.

Semenyo has had a remarkable season with Bournemouth so it’s no surprise that several top clubs are monitoring his situation.

However, due to his impressive run, it’s understood that The Cherries are putting a £70 million price tag on their talented winger.

As such, this would set Semenyo up as one of United’s most expensive signings, which with their current financial struggles, might not be possible.

This was summed up with Jacobs’ comments: “Manchester United like the idea of bringing in a right-sided attacker as well, but the cost of Semenyo might prove prohibitive.”

With this set back, United could well divert their attention elsewhere, or prioritise selling of some of their struggling stars like Hojlund to raise funds for the move.
