Liverpool have received a major boost in the bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz, with Manchester City cooling their interest in the German international, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel.
The Reds are set for a busy summer transfer window, with multiple deals already closing in at Anfield. Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong looks set to join the club on a five-year deal after Liverpool triggered his £30m release clause.

According to BBC reporter Mokbel, Man City have cooled their interest in Leverkusen attacking midfielder Wirtz, with the Manchester club unwilling to pay the £250m needed, in wages and transfer fees, to secure his signature.
It's a big boost for Liverpool, with the Merseyside outfit interested in signing Wirtz during the summer transfer window. Wirtz, described as a 'superstar', has reportedly already held personal talks with Arne Slot over a potential move.
