Aston Villa could accept a surprise Emiliano Martinez offer in the upcoming summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 32-year-old was tearful on the Villa Park pitch last week (16 May) following the win over Tottenham – the club’s final home game of the 2024-25 campaign.

Unai Emery was coy on the goalkeeper’s future after he appeared to bid farewell to the Aston Villa fans after five years with the Midlands giants.

Sources say Villa could accept bids of at least £30million – a surprisingly low figure considering his importance and stature as one of the world’s best shot-stoppers.

Emery’s side are needing to balance the books and may need to make further sales if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Leon Bailey was also visibly emotional and Football Insider has already revealed (30 April) that Aston Villa plan to accept offers for the winger.

He is under contract until June 2029 after penning a new deal just last year (2024) but could depart Aston Villa this summer.

The World Cup winner joined the club from Arsenal in 2020 and has blossomed into one of the world’s leading goalkeepers.

51-cap Argentina international Martinez has made 211 appearances for Villa.

Aston Villa hatch Rogers plan

Football Insider revealed on 9 May that Aston Villa are ready to sell other first-XI stars ahead of in-demand attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers.

Martinez could be among the players sacrificed as the Midlands giants look to keep Rogers at the club this summer.

Villa will do everything they can to keep the 22-year-old star man amid new interest from Chelsea.
