Arne Slot has now decided whether or not Trent Alexander-Arnold will feature for Liverpool vs Brighton - journalist

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in his final week as a Liverpool player, with the defender set to bid farewell to his boyhood club on Sunday.

The England international announced earlier this month that he will leave Anfield when his contract expires this summer, with Alexander-Arnold expected to join Real Madrid ahead of the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup.

Reaction to the right-back’s departure has been mixed, with Alexander-Arnold booed at Anfield by some Liverpool fans last Sunday after coming on from the bench in the Reds’ 2-2 draw against Premier League rivals Arsenal.

And Arne Slot has now made a decision on if Alexander-Arnold will feature for Liverpool later tonight on the road against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Trent Alexander-Arnold part of Liverpool’s squad to face Brighton

According to journalist David Lynch, Alexander-Arnold has travelled with the Liverpool squad down to the English south coast to face Brighton, though it’s not yet known whether or not the fullback will be named in the starting XI.

Lynch wrote on Twitter: “Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to be part of the Liverpool squad to face Brighton tonight despite receiving a hostile reception at Anfield last weekend.”

With Liverpool fans angry with Alexander-Arnold’s leaving party at Melwood, there’s a good chance that the 26-year-old defender could receive another frosty reception tonight at the Amex Stadium from the travelling support.

And with Liverpool having nothing to play for this evening at Brighton, Slot might see it as the best decision to once again start Alexander-Arnold on the bench to give Conor Bradley more Premier League minutes heading into next season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold should start on the bench for Liverpool vs Brighton

Alexander-Arnold’s reputation at Liverpool seems to be diminishing with each passing day, with more supporters seemingly growing angry with the defender’s decision to leave Anfield to join Madrid in the summer.

And because of that, Alexander-Arnold should be named on the bench for Liverpool against Brighton, with Bradley more deserving of the spot given how key the Northern Ireland international is set to be for the Reds in the years to come.

Indeed, Bradley will want to end the season with a flourish, and giving the youngster the nod over Alexander-Arnold will be a smart decision from Slot in Liverpool’s penultimate game of the season.
