Championship play-off finalists Sheffield United have released a statement after their official X account was hacked and suggested that Manchester United are better than Manchester City.
Beginning at 2.38pm, the Blades' social media account appeared to post a bizarre message regarding rival Sheffield Wednesday player Barry Bannan. "Why so much hate on Barry Bannan? Should I fire him," was sent from the club's official profile.
A series of tweets then followed about Bannan before at 2.47pm the account posted: "I'm following everyone who trash talk Barry Bannan. I just figured out that he is from another, other club."
The tweets would then get stranger when the Blades' official account then posted: "Let's forget Barry Bannan. New topic: MUFC > City."
This ended up being the final post before the South Yorkshire club regained access of their X account and the posts were subsequently deleted. In a statement on their website, Sheffield United confirmed that they had been hacked.

"Due to an online attack, Sheffield United's X social media account has been temporarily compromised," they explained in a brief statement. "Any posts, interactions or private messages made from the account are not authorised by the club.
"United will keep supporters updated about the status of the account, and when access is reclaimed." This strange incident comes in the week that the Blades are preparing to face Sunderland for a place in the Premier League next season.
Chris Wilder's side were involved in a three-horse race for automatic promotion but missed out on the prize with Leeds United and Burnley pulling away. Turning their attention to the play-offs, a professional performance against Bristol City saw them progress to the Wembley final 6-0 on aggregate.
On Saturday, they will take on Sunderland who finished fourth in the regular season but impressed to beat Coventry City 3-2 on aggregate with Daniel Ballard scoring the winner in the last minute of extra time. The winner will travel to Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium next season for the 2025/26 season.
