Nikola Jokic Hits Rare Slump In Worrisome Stat During Playoffs

On Sunday afternoon, Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets were eliminated from the NBA playoffs after a hard-fought series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As always, Jokic was a major part of every single game, but he wasn’t playing as well as he usually does.

In fact, according to Keerthika Uthayakumar, Jokic’s latest games in the playoffs featured a surprising weak spot.

“Nikola Jokic went 9 consecutive games without reaching 10+ assists, his longest such streak (reg. season or playoffs) since March 2022,” Uthayakumar wrote on X.

To see Jokic slump in any statistic is surprising, but especially when it comes to assists.

He has proven himself as one of the best big men in the league, but his ability to find his teammates and create deft passes is otherworldly.

The internet is filled with plenty of mixtapes featuring Jokic and his incredible ability to make assists.

And while he has still been a huge help for his team in that department, he hasn’t been playing as well as usual.

During Sunday’s game, he posted 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

But for the season, Jokic averaged 29.6 points and 12.7 rebounds.

Some people will say that Jokic’s diminished numbers have to do with the fact that he was carrying his team at many times.

Others will say that he is tired after a long, complicated, up-and-down season.

No matter the reasons, Nuggets fans are hoping they see Jokic’s numbers bounce up again when 2025-26 begins.

Everyone knows the Nuggets succeed or fail based on how Jokic is playing, so they want him at the best of his abilities after a long, restful summer break.
