Wayne Lineker has revealed how he planned Arne Slot’s Liverpool FC’s Premier League title celebrations in Ibiza. The Reds clinched the victory in style at a jubilant Anfield with a thumping 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last month.

After this, the manager took the opportunity to head to the Balearic Islands. In various social media posts, the Dutchman can be seen being welcomed onto the Ocean Beach stage with Queen's 'We Are the Champions' playing, while a group of women held up cards that read 'Champions.'

Later on, in some clips, 'Freed From Desire' begins to play, while in an Instagram story posted by former EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney, Slot can be seen enjoying the atmosphere in one of Ibiza's most famous clubs.

The video's caption read: "Eagle-eyed viewers will spot a certain Premiership-winning manager," accompanied by two eye emojis and a heart emoji.

Now, Wayne has told the ECHO how the party came about. Speaking to the ECHO from the city’s National Influencer Awards, the 63-year-old said: “It was amazing for me because I got three million views out of it. It was pure gold, amazing. He is a very, very nice man.

“He was very embarrassed about it all, but I had planned for him. He had zero chance of out-drinking me, though. He may be champion of the league, but I am the champion of Ibiza.”

The nightclub tycoon joked that he was extending his stay in the city to enjoy the victory parade. Wayne walked away as the winner of the Entrepreneur influencer of the year award from the city’s first National Influencer Awards.

Held at the Crowne Plaza, the event spotlighted people from various industries and celebrated creativity, impact, and excellence in digital influence.

The ceremony came about after founder Katherine Jones said she was “sick of seeing” celebrations everywhere but in the city.

The 35-year-old businesswoman, from Garston, previously told the ECHO: “I've been in the marketing industry for 10 years, and these days, there’s an award for everything but for influencers. I’ve never been nominated as an agency or any of the influencers I represent.

"But I've been to lots of award shows, and they're always in London. You see them everywhere but here, there’s nothing here in the north for us, nothing even quite similar. We were sick of seeing that gap.

"I want to bring influencers to come here to experience Liverpool, get them here to spend their money, tag local businesses in the city and create the hype the city deserves.

"We’re bringing everyone here under one roof. There’s a gap in the market, and we’re going to fill it.”
