The Indiana Pacers are back in the Eastern Conference Finals for the 2nd year in a row, where they’ll face an old foe in the New York Knicks.
The matchup brings back memories of the heated Pacers-Knicks rivalry of the 90’s and the early 2000’s, when the two teams met three times in the Conference Finals, with the Knicks winning two of those series. The Pacers do have some recent playoff success against New York, having beat them in seven games in the 2024 Eastern Conference Semifinals, but with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line, and with the Knicks once again holding home-court advantage, this is an entirely different challenge.
During the Monday edition of The Ride With JMV, Pacers general manager Chad Buchanan joined the show, and gave some insight into what awaits the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
“_They don’t play a lot of guys, not as many as we do, but they have a lot of talent, a lot of grit, a lot of togetherness with that group. They upgraded at a few positions, and their starting five is as tough as there is in the NBA. We’re going to have our hands full, there’s no weak link out there on the floor for them, all those guys can hurt you in different ways, and we’ve got to have all five guys, when on the court, locked in, ready to defend and battle…They’re a tremendous, tremendous team and it’s going to be a major challenge for us in the series._”
