Everything could change for Manchester United on 21st May. Despite a dismal domestic campaign and no silverware from cup competitions, the club still has a chance to secure a Champions League spot, remarkably, even after sitting as low as 16th in the league. Their hopes rest on the upcoming Europa League final against Tottenham, who, like United, are dealing with a troubling injury list heading into the showdown.
However, United received a timely boost this week. Ruben Amorim told reporters ahead of the UEL final that Diogo Dalot is doing everything he can to be fit for the final, and the defender himself confirmed the manager’s statement, offering a much-needed dose of optimism.
Diogo Dalot is battling to return in time for Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur.
Before the much-anticipated final, Manchester United must travel to Chelsea for a Premier League clash.
This will be United’s final away game of the season, with their last league fixture scheduled at Old Trafford against Aston Villa. Amorim told reporters that Diogo Dalot is doing everything possible to be fit for next week’s final.
The Portuguese full-back rarely misses games and is determined to return in time to help his teammates overcome Tottenham, despite United having fallen short against them three times this season.
Dalot is working hard to be fit in time for the final
With only one week to go until the final, fans are keen for Diogo Dalot to come back. Being one of the more experienced players on the pitch, after more than 200 appearances as a Red Devil, Dalot is also one of the most talented and important players in the squad.
Just before United travelled to Chelsea, Dalot provided an update regarding his injury, which has kept him out for the last five matches. He noted that he is improving little by little and that he is day-to-day. Dalot is working hard to be fit, if possible,e for the final, and there is clearly a strong desire to be back on the pitch soon. In summary, whether to bring Dalot in the travelling squad to Bilbao depends on how his fitness develops in the next few days.
The United right-back, speaking in the presser ahead of the Tottenham game on Beanymansports via Youtube, reaffirmed that we can hope for him to be back
“So, feeling better every day. We just, at this stage, we go day by day to see how it goes, but so far so good.”
“[I am working] really hard. You can imagine how much I want to be back as soon as possible. But we will see.”
