Real Madrid have shown a lot of interest in bringing Alvaro Carreras back to the capital of Spain this summer, and the player wants the move as well.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Carreras will inform his current club Benfica about his desire to move to the biggest club in the world after their Cup final this Sunday against Sporting.
Carreras really wants the move, and the two clubs are expected to begin negotiations for the Spaniard's exit form Portugal after the cup final.
Real Madrid have already signed Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth for a fee of around 50 million pounds. They have also agreed on a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold, although he has yet to be announced by the club.
Real Madrid have secured the services of Xabi Alonso, too, and he is expected to take over from Carlo Ancelotti at the club.
Real Madrid could use a full-back like Alvaro Carreras
The left-back position was the one which Real Madrid had to look at next - with both Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy either struggling for form or fitness.
And now, finally, they are doing it. Carreras is a talented player who could help Real Madrid in more ways than one. He defends well, he goes forward and puts in good crosses. There are things he can improve on, but his young age definitely helps the player in that regard.
Real Madrid have been building a great squad for the future, and till now, it has worked like a charm, apart from those few positions where there have been signs of struggle.
Most of it has been in the defense. First it was the central defenders, then the right-back, and now the left-back. Real Madrid are slowly but surely fixing these mistakes.
I think they realised towards the end of the season just how much they put defense to the side. They obviously needed to focus on it so that the club keeps competing for the biggest trophies, and these are all steps in the right direction.
