Manchester United will be watching Andreas Pereira’s transfer situation closely with a potential profit on the cards.

The Brazilian midfielder was sold to Fulham from Old Trafford in 2022 for a fee understood to be around £10m. Pereira had been with United as a teenager and was persuaded by Sir Alex Ferguson to sign a professional contract with the club.

Having spent the last three seasons at Craven Cottage, Pereira has become a standout player in the Fulham squad. During his time in west London, the 29-year-old has scored 10 goals and bagged an impressive 19 assists.

With his positive performances, and now with just one year left on his contract, Pereira has attracted interest from other clubs.

Although United themselves are not one of the clubs monitoring Pereira, they will likely be keeping an eye on any transfer news coming out of his camp due to the Reds holding a 20% sell-on clause.

This means that if Fulham are to sell their midfielder for a fee, United will bank themselves 20 per cent of that amount.

Any windfall will be welcome at United, especially as co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has introduced sweeping cost-cutting measures. The INEOS chairman has had to take drastic action to save the club money by doing things such as slashing over 200 jobs and cutting the free lunch for staff.

What Sir Jim likely wouldn't want to happen with Pereira is for the Brazilian to stay at Fulham for another year and run his contract out so he can leave for free next summer. Fortunately for United, Marco Silva's side have the option to extend his contract by another year.

The teams most closely linked with the former-United player are Nottingham Forest and Ligue 1 side Marseille. Brazilian side Palmeiras were also connected with their countryman in January and reportedly had two bids rejected.

RTI Esporte have claimed that Pereira's price tag has been set at £29.4m by Fulham. If a club are to meet this reported asking price, it would see United raking in around £5.8m thanks to their sell-on clause.
