Mason Mount feels he owes Manchester United a trophy - to make up for his lost time with the fallen giants.
Mount has been a hostage to injury for much of the past two years since joining United from Chelsea in a £55million deal. But the midfielder is back to full fitness and is ready to play a part for United in Wednesday night's all-or-nothing Europa League final against Tottenham in Bilbao.
And Mount - who came off the bench to score twice in United’s 4-1 semi-final win over Athletic Bilbao - is on a mission to lift the trophy as payback to the fans for sticking by him. “I want to have those moments,” said Mount.
“I want to create opportunities for my teammates. I just haven't had a lot of opportunities to do that, so any time I’m on the pitch I want to show them what I can do.
"I want to create chances for my teammates and win games and win trophies. We have the opportunity to do that. We want to finish the season as strong as possible by winning the trophy, so that’s always been our goal. But I'm massively focused on what I can do when I'm on the pitch."

Mount has just four goals and one assist in 44 appearances for United since he joined the club from Chelsea in 2023, yet three of those strikes have come this month. He netted twice in the win over Athletic and his recent performances have shown glimpses of what United invested in.
His problem has been injuries, with calf and hamstring complaints ruling him out of 50 games altogether since he arrived at Old Trafford. But the 26-year-old does look at ease playing as a No.10 in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation and could be a key player in Bilbao.

Mason Mount played an important role in Manchester United's win in the semi-finals
Spurs have beaten United three times already this season and Mount said Amorim's players are on a revenge mission in the biggest game of them all -with a £100m place in the Champions League awaiting the winners.
Mount added: "We know what Spurs can do. They have some very good players and they’re dangerous. We have to be ready. It's a massive game for both clubs.
"This season they've had some wins against us, so we need to be ready for the game and what they bring. We will be ready. It'll be an exciting game. You want to play in these finals and you want to win these games."
