New names continue to be linked with moves to Leeds United this summer after the club’s promotion back to the Premier League, and a midfielder has been urged to move to Elland Road.
Leeds need reinforcements all over the pitch. A new goalkeeper is crucial, as is a replacement for Junior Firpo. A better version of Brenden Aaronson and a proven Premier League goal scorer are also priorities.
The Whites also require cover in the middle of the park, with Josuha Guilavogui confirmed as leaving and Joe Rothwell now back at Bournemouth. Leeds need depth in midfield and an Everton star is on the radar.
Reports say Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is a target for Leeds. The Whites are in a two-horse race with Roma, with the Italian giants currently under the control of Everton’s owners The Friedkin Group.

Abdoulaye Doucoure urged to join Leeds United this summer
Doucoure is out of contract at Everton and is set for pastures new. Leeds are now said to be interested in a move, with the Mali star fitting the type of player Leeds seem to be after – proven in England’s top tier.
Speaking to Africa Foot, former Mali international Mahamadou N’Diaye said he thinks Doucoure is one of the best in Europe in his position before saying he thinks Doucoure would be a “great addition” at Leeds.
“Doucouré is a top player who can continue his career in the Premier League with another club. Physically, still performing well and is one of the best in his position in Europe, a player who has a healthy lifestyle.
“He knows the Premier League well. He’s one of the most experienced players in the league. So, he could be a great addition to Leeds United. All depends on the club’s interest and his desire to stay in England.”

Doucoure’s stats in the Premier League make him a must
Leeds need numbers in midfield but in terms of the kind of midfielder Leeds currently have, they lack a Doucoure. Indeed, Leeds have lacked a Doucoure throughout Daniel Farke’s tenure as Leeds manager.
A box-to-box midfielder with the strength and guile of a centre-back but the technical ability of a no.10, combined with the Premier League experience that comes with 277 games in England’s top division.

Yes, he is now 32 and probably past his best but if Leeds want proven Premier League midfielders and to save cash in other positions, Doucoure is a no-brainer. A real coup if Leeds can get him through the door.
